Análisis morfométrico de conos de gutapercha Mtwo Morphometric analysis of Mtwo gutta-percha cones

Abstract

Resumen Objetivo: Evaluar cuantitativamente el calibre y la conicidad de los conos de gutapercha Mtwo (VDW, Múnich, Alemania). Materiales y métodos: Se seleccionaron al azar 50 conos de gutapercha marca Mtwo (VDW, Múnich, Alemania) entre 300, provenientes de 5 cajas de conos surtidos #25 .06, #30 .05, #35 .04, #40 .04 y #25 .07. Fueron descartados aquellos que visualmente tenían algún defecto. Los elegidos se separaron en grupos de 10, según el número. Se midió cada cono en el vértice y a 1 mm, 2 mm, 3 mm, 4 mm y 5 mm, con un espesímetro centesimal modelo 7301 (Mitutoyo, Japón). Se realizaron 300 determinaciones, que fueron efectuadas por dos operadores. Cuando hubo diferencias, se repitieron las mediciones hasta hallar coincidencia. Los datos fueron registrados en una planilla de Excel (Microsoft Corporation, Estados Unidos) diseñada al efecto. El análisis estadístico se llevó a cabo con prueba de hipótesis de dos colas, contrastando la media con el valor teórico. Resultados: Se hallaron diferencias estadísticamente significativas para los conos #25 .06 en la determinación a 2 mm. En cuanto al resto de las mediciones, no hubo diferencias significativas. Conclusión: De acuerdo a los resultados obtenidos sobre la muestra analizada, en general los conos de gutapercha Mtwo respetan las especificaciones ISO de fabricación. Palabras clave: Conos de gutapercha, endodoncia, obturación radicular. Abstract Aim: To quantitatively evaluate the caliber and the taper of gutta-percha Mtwo points. Materials and methods: 50 gutta-percha Mtwo cones (VDW, Munich, Germany) were randomly selected from 5 300 boxes of assorted cones #25 .06, #30 .05, #35 .04, #40 .04 and #25 .07. Those with a visually detected defect were discarded. Five groups of 10 each were organized with those that had been chosen. Each cone was measured at the apex and at 1 mm, 2 mm, 3 mm, 4 mm and 5 mm using a 7301 Mitutoyo thickness gauge (Mitutoyo, Japan). A total 300 measurements was carried out by two operators and in case of differences a consensus was reached. The data were loaded in a specifically organized Excel sheet (Microsoft Corporation, USA) form designed for this purpose. Statistical analysis was performed using two-tailed hypothesis contrasting the average vs. the theoretical value. Results: Statistically significant differences were found for cones #25 .06 cones at 2 mm. No significant differences were found in the other measurements. Conclusion: According to the results obtained for the sample that was analyzed we can conclude that gutta-percha Mtwo cones are in accordance with ISO manufacturing specifications.
