Estudio citológico del yacón (Smallanthus sonchifolius) y del yacón del campo (Smallanthus macroscyphus)

Abstract

Con los fines de estudiar las posibles relaciones de parentesco entre las especies: Smallanthus sonchifolius (yacón) y Smallanthus macroscyphus (yacón del campo) se analizaron los cariotipos y la meiosis de ambas especies. El cariotipo es simétrico con cromosomas telocéntricos en S. macroscyphus y subtelocéntricos en S. sonchifolius. La meiosis se presenta normal en S. macroscyphus y con algunas irregularidades en S. sonchifolius. Los resultados citológicos (números cromosómicos, cariotipos, comportamiento meiótico de los cromosomas) y otros previos de tipo morfológico, hábitos de crecimiento, son consistentes con un orígen híbrido de S.sonchifolius permitiendo sugerir que S. macroscyphus sería un probable progenitor de S. sonchifoliws.
