Abstract

Buscando viabilizar a produção de organismos planctônicos para a alimentação inicial de larvas de peixes, foram realizados cultivos massivos da microalga Chlorella homosphaera em água doce com adubos comerciais, em volumes de 60 litros, e do rotí­­fero de água salobra Brachionus plicatilis em água doce salinizada a 18% com NaCl, em tanques de até 500 litros, em sistema semi-contí­­nuo. Os rotí­­feros foram alimentados com levedura fresca de panificação Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Obtiveram-se concentrações de até 5 x 106 células.mL-1 para a microalga, entre o 4º e o 6 º dias de cultivo. As populações de rotí­­feros mantiveram-se estáveis por longos perí­­odos (cerca de 50 dias), apresentando densidade máxima de 650 indiví­­duos.mL-1 e média de 100 -150 indiví­­duos.mL-1, nos cultivos mais intensivos. Sofreram desbastes periódicos de até 39% do volume das culturas, que representavam retiradas de 6 a 8 milhões de organismos por dia. Os sistemas utilizados mostraram-se exequí­­veis e garantiram uma produção de organismos suficiente para viabilizar a larvicultura do curimbatá Prochilodus scrofa no Laboratório de Biologia de Peixes Fluviais, em Pirassununga, SP. Acredita-se que esses sistemas possam também ser aplicados para larvas de outras espécies.
