Abstract

Desde el año de 1929, cuando Claude Lévi Strauss pre­sentaba sus exámenes para ser profesor, y lo hacía en forma sobresaliente, su nombre empezó a figurar en los círculos académicos e intelectuales. En la misma época, otros tres compañeros discutían en términos po­lémicos y desesperados su situación filosófica y polí­tica; habían leído a Hegel y a Marx, y lo entendieron todo, y no entendieron nada ya que no se habían trans­formado. No es sino hasta con el conocimiento del Ter­cer Mundo y la guerra fría cuando se radicalizan: Jean- Paul Sartre sería el padre del existencialismo y termi­naría siendo un marxista; Simone de Beauvoir sería la mejor exponente de la fenomenología de la mujer; Maurice Merleau Ponty haría un intento sobrehumano para unir el marxismo y la filosofía de Husserl. Lévi Strauss, por otra parte, descubriría el estructuralismo.
