Qualidade social da escola pública e formação dos docentes

Abstract

O texto discute a qualidade social da escola pública e a formação docente. Com base numa pesquisa do Instituto Nacional de Pesquisa e Estudos Educacionais (Inep) sobre a qualidade da educação nas 4a e 8a séries do ensino fundamental, o texto problematiza vários conceitos, entre os quais o da “qualidade da educação”, comumente usado de forma vaga e com um caráter ideológico; a “qualidade social da escola”, um conceito estranho. Cada sociedade tem uma escola que está de acordo com ela, ou seja, a sociedade tem uma escola com a “qualidade social” de que precisa. O texto conclui discutindo a questão de qual professor e de qual formação se fala e afirmando que não é qualquer formação que pode contribuir para uma melhoria da “qualidade da educação”.
