Oxidación de CO en catalizadores de Pd soportados sobre óxidos mixtos basados en cerio

Abstract

Se prepararon los catalizadores de 0,5Pd/Ce0,6Zr0,4Ox/SiO2; 1,5Pd/Ce0,6Zr0,4Ox/SiO2; 0,5Pd/ Ce0,7Tb0,3Ox/SiO2 y 1,5Pd/Ce0.7Tb0.3Ox/SiO2, utilizando la técnica de impregnación a humedad incipiente a partir de soluciones acuosas de cloruros de paladio, cerio, zirconio y terbio. Los catalizadores fueron caracterizados mediante las técnicas de Fluorescencia de rayos X (XRF), área superficial, Difracción de rayos X (XRD), Quimisorción de CO y Reducción a Temperatura Programada (TPR). El comportamiento catalítico de las muestras fue evaluado a través de la reacción de oxidación de CO. Los resultados de TPR mostraron que la adición de Tb ó Zr promueve la reducibilidad del óxido de cerio a más baja temperatura. Los resultados de quimisorción de CO y TPR permiten concluir que la adición de Pd a los soportes de Ce0,6Zr0,4Ox/SiO2 y Ce0,7Tb0,3Ox/SiO2 generan especies de PdO de distinta naturaleza, las cuales influyen en su comportamiento catalítico. Los resultados de actividad catalítica mostraron que la adición de Zr mejora el comportamiento catalítico de las muestras, siendo el más activo el catalizador de 0,5Pd/Ce0,6Zr0,4Ox/SiO2 (Temperatura de light off = 140 ºC). Las temperaturas de light off reportadas indicaron que la reacción se favorece con bajas cargas de Pd.
