La preparación de los lienzos en la corte de Madrid: de Felipe IV a Felipe V

Abstract

El estudio de los materiales pictóricos proporciona una valiosa información acerca de los procedimientos que seguían los artistas para la ejecución de sus obras y del entorno geográfico y temporal en el que estas fueron ejecutadas. El objetivo de este artículo es presentar de forma sistemática los métodos que tradicionalmente se emplearon en la preparación de los lienzos en Madrid a lo largo de los siglos xvii y xviii, utilizando como marco temporal los reinados de los dos últimos representantes de los Austrias y la transición a la nueva dinastía borbónica. En ese periodo coinciden un gran número de talleres de distinta importancia así como artistas de variada procedencia, tanto nacional como internacional, que en parte van adoptando ciertos usos comunes a la vez que, en algunos casos, aportan nuevos procedimientos que son asimilados por los artistas locales.
