Abstract

Se expone la necesidad de cambiar el concepto de compras a una dimensión mayor e incluida en una gestión más eficiente. Se presenta un marco teórico de las principales funciones del área de aseguramientos así como inicios de la Logística en la gestión empresarial. Se estudian los métodos de aprovisionamiento, las principales funciones del departamento de compras y como éste se integra en la nueva filosofía de la Cadena de Suministros. Se exponen las ideas principales del Sistema de Gestión de Aseguramientos, y sin muchos tecnicismos se describe la experiencia de trabajo de compradores de Canadá, Estados Unidos, Inglaterra y otros países, que agrupados en una Asociación Internacional, editaron un libro del cual, junto con la experiencia práctica personal, se nutre el presente artículo. Se demuestra como es el área de compras la que tiene mayor responsabilidad sobre el dinero, dependiendo de la relación gastos - ingresos que varía para cada industria, concluyendo que las organizaciones deben conocer a sus suministradores para alcanzar sus metas y objetivos, ninguna puede subsistir sin suministradores y ninguna puede hacer el trabajo mejor que él, por lo que son necesarios.
