Assédio e hostilidade online contra jornalistas

Abstract

Apesar das esperanças depositadas nos potenciais benefícios de uma maior aproximação entre jornalistas e audiências no espaço digital, a possibilidade de as audiências comentarem ou acederem facilmente aos/às jornalistas tornou-se um problema reconhecido. O assédio e os ataques em linha a estes/as profissionais, mais visíveis com o crescimento da extrema-direita, tornaram-se problemas relevantes que têm também dimensões de género. A partir de um estudo tridimensional que incluiu o mapeamento de uma amostra de comentários a notícias, um inquérito a jornalistas e um conjunto de entrevistas em profundidade a mulheres jornalistas, esta investigação procura analisar a situação em Portugal. Os resultados confirmam a presença de discurso abusivo nos comentários a notícias, a perceção pelos/as jornalistas de que o ambiente digital veio agravar a hostilidade contra a imprensa, a falta de confiança nos mecanismos de proteção e como aspetos como o género são relevantes no assédio online.
