Abstract

This work describes the application of several methods for the calibration of precipitation estimates generated from passive microwave sensors using rain gauge observations. The experiments evaluated strategies for the development of an operational calibration process over Southeastern South America which can be easily applied to other regions. Results show that the proposed calibration algorithm can effectively reduce the systematic errors in the precipitation estimates leading to an improvement on its reliability over the study region.
