Abstract

The present document analyses the causes of the declination of these populations in Chile and the use of relocation as a strategy of aquatic biodiversity conservation and management. These lessons analyze the regards we have to caution before, during and after the process of relocation of a population and the ecological, sanitary and evolutive implications of the relocation programs. We conclude that relocation is a valuable tool for conservation and management of freshwater mussel populations and feasible to carry out successfully taking into account the considerations pointed out previously
