Características glucométricas del monitoreo continuo de glucosa en niños con diabetes mellitus tipo 1

Abstract

Antecedentes: Hasta hace pocos años, la automedición de la glucemia de los pacientes con diabetes mellitus tipo 1 (DM1) se realizaba únicamente mediante punción digital. Con la introducción de los dispositivos de monitoreo continuo de glucosa (MCG) se pueden conocer los niveles de glucosa durante las 24 horas del día. Objetivo: Evaluar el estado de control glucémico actual de niños con DM1 en una situación de atención médica en la vida real. El estudio evaluó las características glucométricas del MCG. Material y métodos: Se condujo un estudio retrospectivo en 30 pacientes con DM1 que utilizaron MCG durante 14 días. Se realizó un análisis descriptivo de las variables sociodemográficas y las derivadas del MCG. Resultados: El promedio del tiempo en rango (70-180 mg/dl) fue subóptimo, con una media de 60%. Solo 26% de pacientes tuvieron un tiempo en rango (70-180 mg/dl) mayor a 70%. Relacionado a hipoglucemia, 60% de pacientes estuvieron en rango hipoglucémico mayor al 4% del periodo de tiempo que usaron el MCG. Conclusiones: En este estudio de la vida real, el control glucémico en niños con DM1 es subóptimo. El uso longitudinal del MCG permite una mejora sustancial del control glucémico de los pacientes con DM1.
