La producción prehispánica de obsidiana en el sur de Hidalgo

Abstract

La obsidiana jugó un papel muy importante en el México prehispánico; sitios como La Sierra de las Navajas localizada en el estado de Hidalgo, fue uno de los sitios donde se extrajo dicho material. En el presente artículo, los autores tratan de proponer un modelo de producción y circulación de la obsidiana en Mesoamérica y, para ello, llevan a cabo un reconocimiento sistemático de superficie en yacimientos, minas y talleres de obsidiana en la Sierra de las Navajas, Otumba y Paredón. Esta actividad fue muy importante y ayudó a la comprensión de sitios como Tula y Teotihuacan.
