Violencia Intrafamiliar: Enfoque de género

Abstract

A descriptive study on the biopsychosocial characteristics of 24 women victims of intrafamily violence that maintained their accusations and decided to break up silence from a group of 83 that have been battered from August, 1998 to August, 1999, was made. The individual interview was used in order to know their own characteristics and those of the victimizers. It was found that more than half had withdrawn their charges and had committed this act on one occasion. Housewives aged 15-24 were the most battered. Mild injuries were the most reported. The victimizers were men between 25 and 34 years old, heads of the family nucleus and workers. Alcohol was present as a common toxic habit and as the cause of violence.
