Modelación de inundaciones costeras en la localidad de Caibarién para escenarios de cambio climático

Abstract

El presente trabajo tiene el propósito de simular la inundación costera generada por el huracán Irma en Caibarién para el escenario de cambio climático de 2050 con un aumento del nivel medio del mar de 29 cm y el escenario de 2100 con una sobreelevación del mar de 95 cm. Para ello se realizó la modelación acoplada de ADCIRC+SWAN en una malla de cómputo no estructurada que comprende las costas desde Villa Clara hasta Camagüey y parte del archipiélago Sabana – Camagüey. De esta corrida del modelo se obtuvo la curva hidráulica de la inundación, la cual presentó un máximo de 1.97 m a las 45 horas de corrida. Se utilizó el modelo LISFLOOD-FP para determinar el alcance de la inundación costera en la ciudad, el cual se pudo visualizar mediante el empleo del QGIS como Sistema de Información Geográfica. La modelación dio como resultado que para el escenario de 2050 estará afectado aproximadamente el 30 % de la ciudad, mientras que para el escenario de 2100 la afectación será del 50 % aproximadamente. La zona con mayor vulnerabilidad y riesgo resultó ser donde se localiza el malecón de la ciudad además de otras edificaciones de importancia económica y social.
