Le rôle de protection passive de la végétation forestière vis-à-vis de l'érosion et des chutes de pierres

Abstract

La végétation forestière peut jouer un rôle de protection " passive " contre certains aléas naturels, c'est-à-dire qu'elle peut permettre de réduire l'impact d'un aléa après que celui-ci se soit déclenché. Ce type d'action de la végétation peut être observé avec l'érosion et les chutes de pierres. Il apparaît alors intéressant de chercher à quantifier ce rôle de protection. Deux programmes de recherche ont ainsi été initiés sur ces deux types d'aléas. Dans les deux cas, des expériences grandeur nature ont été réalisées et permettent de montrer, qualitativement et quantitativement, l'impact de barrières végétales sur les mouvements de matériaux allant du sédiment au bloc. Les premiers résultats montrent qu'il sera possible de déterminer des règles de gestion des problèmes liés à l'érosion et aux chutes de pierres par la voie de l'ingénierie écologique.
