Índices de turbidez atmosférica de banda ancha en Camagüey

Abstract

El coeficiente de turbidez de Angstrom, el parámetro de turbidez de Linke y el coeficiente de Unsworth-Monteith se utilizaron para describir la turbidez atmosférica de banda ancha sobre Camagüey durante el período 1971-2012. Para los cálculos se seleccionaron las mediciones de radiación solar directa normal realizadas con el disco solar libre de nubosidad provenientes de la estación actinométrica localizada en el Centro Meteorológico de Camagüey (21.4o N, 77.85o W). Durante el curso diurno, los valores más elevados de la turbidez se localizaron en horas del mediodía. Las medias mensuales mostraron el máximo en el verano, durante el mes de julio, los parámetros de turbidez de Unsworth-Monteith, Angstrom y de Linke alcanzaron valores de 0.31, 0.2 y 4.17, respectivamente, mientras que los valores mínimos se alcanzaron en el invierno, en enero, con 0.18, 0.1 y 3.07. Los tres coeficientes resultaron interdependientes en su evolución diaria, con coeficientes de correlación cercanos a 1. La distribución de la frecuencia de ocurrencia de los índices referidos, en varios rangos, confirmó una calidad del aire mejor en el período estacional poco lluvioso, mínima turbidez, con respecto al período lluvioso. En la serie multianual se distinguieron dos máximos en los parámetros de turbidez, coincidentes con los años de las erupciones de los volcanes El Chichón y Pinatubo. Los incrementos y decrementos de la turbidez se explicaron, entre otras causas, por la influencia de factores ambientales y la actividad económica en el territorio. A partir de 2002 se observó un incremento notable de la turbidez.
