Abstract

Escasez y celeridad en la España de los años 50 concentran el proyecto de vivienda social en los sistemas dimensionales y programáticos de la unidad habitacional, muy depurada y eficaz para los nuevos poblados en las periferias, pero obligada a posponer la atención a los espacios públicos y equipamientos de los barrios. En la década siguiente, el proyecto se desplaza desde el núcleo familiar a las necesidades colectivas y a la capacidad del espacio del común para atender a una realidad sociológica más exigente. Dos significativos proyectos no construidos, junto a otros que sí lo fueron, señalan esta breve transición del sistema vecinal hasta la irrupción del privado en la vivienda a gran escala. Los arquitectos que trabajan para la “Constructora Benéfica Hogar de Empleado” proyectan una larga serie de colonias que son antecedentes eficaces hacia discursos más sofisticados en torno al concepto de lo colectivo, cuyo estudio muestra una línea de evolución que mantiene la calidad sin perder continuidad argumental: los proyectos para la Unidad Vecinal “Costa Rica” en Madrid y el Plan para la finca “El Serrallo” en Granada pueden leerse como prototipos de esta mirada nueva.
