MARUCA: UNA NUEVA VARIEDAD CUBANA DE PAPA (Solanum tuberosum L.)

Abstract

En el Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Agrícolas (INCA), desde 1985 se inició un programa de mejoramiento genético, con el objetivo de obtener variedades cubanas de papa con resistencia a enfermedades, altos rendimientos y calidad de los tubérculos; producto de ese programa se han obtenido seis variedades. Maruca es una nueva variedad obtenida por el método clásico de hibridación, que posee altos rendimientos, calidad para consumo fresco y es medianamente susceptible a A. solani. Posee su registro comercial de nueva variedad cubana, otorgado por el Centro Nacional de Sanidad Vegetal del Ministerio de Agricultura de Cuba. En este trabajo se presentan las principales características de esta variedad así como su pedigrí.
