Abstract

El objetivo del presente trabajo fue analizar experimentalmente, el efecto de la reducción del flujo sanguíneo útero placentario sobre el dimorfismo sexual postcraneano. Ratas Wistar fueron divididas en tres grupos: 1) control, 2) RPC: inducido por ligamiento parcial de arterias uterinas al día 1 de gestación y 3) Sham-operado: se les practicó la misma técnica operatoria pero sin realizar el ligamiento arterial. Al nacimiento las crías fueron radiografiadas y se midieron las longitudes del tronco, pélvica, femoral, tibial, humeral y radial. Los datos se analizaron mediante Análisis de Varianza y pruebas post hoc de comparación múltiple. Hubo diferencias significativas entre shamoperado y RPC en: longitud pélvica (ambos sexos), femoral, humeral y tibial (en machos) y radial (en hembras). Las diferencias sexuales encontradas en el tronco y la pelvis de sham-operados fueron inhibidas por RPC. Los resultados obtenidos sugieren que la reducción del flujo sanguíneo placentario retarda el crecimiento postcraneano especialmente en machos y como consecuencia, modifica la expresión normal del dimorfismo sexual.
