Abstract

Do ponto de vista da sustentabilidade, os sistemas agroecológicos são mais adequados ao controle de pragas do que os sistemas químicos tradicionais, em decorrência da manutenção dos processos ecológicos entre os diversos elementos que compõem a paisagem. Apesar da presença de várias espécies de inimigos naturais, as formigas cortadeiras são importantes pragas de cultivos no Brasil. Neste estudo, testamos o efeito da simplificação ambiental sobre o controle biológico de formigas saúva comparando a taxa de parasitismo por moscas (Phoridae) em ambientes de monocultura e vegetação nativa. A proporção de operárias parasitadas coletadas em olheiros próximos às colônias foi maior em ambiente de Cerrado comparada com a registrada em eucaliptal, demonstrando a importância do planejamento da paisagem para o controle de pragas em sistemas de produção agrícola.
