Abstract

Introdução e Objetivo: A nutrição adequada e a atividade física proporcionam um estilo de vida mais saudável que, ultimamente, tem sido buscado pelos indivíduos. Objetivou-se avaliar o consumo alimentar, a composição corporal e o uso de suplementos por praticantes de musculação em Alegre-ES. Materiais e Métodos: As informações foram coletadas por meio de avaliação antropométrica e de um questionário estruturado. Resultados e Discussão: O maior percentual de gordura corporal foi observado no sexo feminino (mediana de 18,97%). O consumo energético correlacionou-se negativamente com o percentual de gordura corporal e com a relação cintura-estatura (RCE) no sexo feminino. O consumo de carboidratos encontrou-se abaixo das recomendações enquanto o consumo de proteínas e lipídios mostrou-se adequado para a maioria dos praticantes. Dos 30 participantes do estudo, 40% consumiam suplementos, sendo os mais consumidos os ricos em proteína (75%) e creatina (50%). Conclusão: A maioria dos indivíduos apresentou composição corporal adequada, porém foram observadas inadequações no consumo alimentar que podem comprometer o exercício. ABSTRACT Food intake, body composition and use of nutritional supplements by muscle exercising practitioner Introduction and Aim: Proper nutrition and physical activity provides a healthier lifestyle which, lately, has been sought by individuals. We aimed to evaluate food intake, body composition and the use of nutritional supplements by muscle exercising practitioner in Alegre, Espirito Santo, Brazil. Materials and Methods: The information was collected through anthropometric assessment and a structured questionnaire. Results and Discussion: The highest percentage of body fat was observed in women (median of 18.97%). The energy consumption was negatively correlated with the percentage of body fat and waist-by-height ratio (WHR) in women. The carbohydrate intake was below the recommendations and the consumption of proteins and lipids was adequate for most subjects. 40% of the participants used supplements and the most consumed were: supplements rich in protein (75%) and creatine (50%). Conclusion: Most individuals had adequate body composition, but inadequacies in food consumption that could compromise the sports practice.
