Abstract

Fragmento. Esta composición fotográfica que busca resaltar la educación y la práctica médica de finales del siglo XIX y principios del siglo XX, fundamentada en los estudios anatómicos y en la materia médica –medicamentos producidos por los boticarios en sus propias boticas y el tránsito hacia la producción de los mismos por las casas farmacéuticas–, muestra un cráneo de un soldado francés de la Primera Guerra Mundial que sirvió de material didáctico a varios académicos, rodeado a la derecha por un frasco de cristal con su tapa también de cristal, de finales del siglo XIX, y con una leyenda en francés que dice agua dentífrica y consultorio del doctor Pierre de la Universidad de París. El doctor Pierre-Alphonse Mussot (1801-1860), graduado como médico por la Facultad de Medicina en la capital francesa, se interesó poco por ejercer la profesión; en cambio, se dedicó a formar una de las primeras compañías de producción industrial de pasta de dientes, fundada en 1837 bajo la marca “Doctor Pierre”.
