
Dentro del grupo de especies europeas, que hasta ahora incluía únicamente a Selidosema brunnearia (Villers, 1789) y S. plumaria ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775), un tercer taxon, Selidosema pyrenaearia (Boisduval, 1840) ha sido elevado a la categoría de especie. Su área de distribución se sitúa en Portugal, España y Francia (Pirineos) y posiblemente Marruecos y Argelia, y se distingue claramente de las otras dos especies mencionadas anteriormente por la genitalia y morfología. Se ilustran las especies europeas, se representan sus estructuras genitales y se añaden mapas de distribución.
