Conciencia solar

Abstract

Existe en Latinoamérica, entre un cierto grupo de artistas, una profunda conciencia del sol. José Luis Macas Paredes es uno de ellos. En su obra, esto que juntos hemos denominado “conciencia solar”, se manifiesta como una sensibilidad aguda hacia los ciclos solares, los movimientos de la luz y la sombra, y su impacto en la geografía y las culturas andinas. Es una forma de percepción que reconoce la importancia del sol como una fuerza vital que moldea la realidad física y simbólica de un lugar, y en su caso específico, ha moldeado desde su origen la urbanidad de la ciudad de Quito en Ecuador. A lo largo de esta conversación, Jose Luis nos lleva a través de su experiencia personal a partir de caminatas, fotografía y dibujo en cianotipia, a reconsiderar la relación entre lo que él llama la urbandinidad y la luz solar ecuatorial.
