The Diagnostics and layout of railway track from the results of GPS measurements

Abstract

The diagnostics and layout of the railway track from the results of GPS measurements, possibilities and consideration of using the GPS technology in the railway geodesy. Integrating the GPS into the rail diagnostics and repairs technologies with focusing on the modernized increased-speed railway tracks. A spatial view in the reference positional and altitudinal system enables to determine the stationing, transverse rail advancement and the superelevation of the rail in relation to the analytically defined spatial shape of the rail. Diagnostics of the spatial shape of the rail in a continuous GPS measurement with the receiver placed on a measurement truck in order to determine a trend of the spatial shape of the rail development. Experiences with using terrestrial and GPS rail measurement methods. Integrating the spatial shape of the rail measurement by the GPS methods into the analytic design of the rail for purposes of reconstruction design and continual repair of the rail. The rail diagnostics is the first step to the planning the repair of the rail towards the shape designed.
