Simplificando la adhesión con un sistema adhesivo universal: reporte de casos Clinical application of a new universal adhesive system: case report

Abstract

Abstract Although current adhesive systems intent to be easier to use and more versatile, the clinician must choose between a self-etch or total-etch adhesive system. Aim: To present the clinical application of a new adhesive system considered universal because it can be used with the self-etch or total-etch approach. Case report: Restorations were built-up in non-carious cervical lesions with various application possibilities Scotchbond Universal, i.e. by applying phosphoric acid throughout the cavity and by allowing the dentin to be kept dry or wet; applying phosphoric acid only on the enamel or by applying only the adhesive without the use of phosphoric acid. After restoration with composite resin, each case was clinically evaluated at baseline and after 6 months. Conclusion: The results showed an excellent clinical performance when this new adhesive system was used in any proposed clinical strategy. Long-term studies with a larger number of clinical cases should be performed to confirm these results presented here.
