This research introduces an effective strategy for the optimal placement of Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs) in power grids to ensure complete system observability. By analyzing network connectivity, the approach seeks to minimize installation costs while maintaining comprehensive power system monitoring. The study utilizes the Dingo Optimization Algorithm, a metaheuristic inspired by nature, to identify the best PMU placement. The algorithm’s performance is validated using IEEE test networks, including the 14-, 30-, 39-, and 57-bus systems. The integration of optimization techniques with connectivity analysis provides a reliable solution for improving power network monitoring through targeted PMU deployment.
