
El presente artículo corresponde a una síntesis del primer debate desarrollado en el Geoforo Iberoamericano sobre Educación, Geografía y Sociedad. El debate giró en torno a la importancia de la enseñanza e investigación sobre el conocimiento geográfico en contextos formales e informales, la preparación de docentes de geografía en el mundo actual y la mejora de la calidad de la formación ciudadana. Las opiniones y los argumentos de los participantes se organizan en dos grandes categorías: aspectos conceptuales y aspectos metodológicos. Se concluye en la necesidad de articular proyectos internacionales que permitan profundizar en las temáticas del debate, con un fuerte énfasis en la realidad socio-cultural y cotidiana de los estudiantes.
This paper corresponds to a synthesis of the first debate developed in Geoforo Iberoamericano on Education, Geography and Society. The debate turned to winch the importance of education and investigation on the geographical knowledge of formal and informal contexts, a geography teacher education in the current world and the improvement of the quality of the citizen formation. The opinions and the arguments of the participants are organized in two big categories: conceptual aspects and methodological aspects. It ends with the need to articulate international projects that allow to study in depth the subject of the debate, with a strong emphasis on the sociocultural and daily reality of the students.
