Abstract

The problems of psychology are considered which the scientists faced with throughout the history of psychology as a science, but which did not have a satisfactory solution, thereby becoming the fundamental. Among them there are the problems of determining the essence of the mind and consciousness, the relation between mental and physiological processes, as well as distinguishing the basic categories of psychology. The theoretical works of this range of problems are covered. The current definitions are analyzed and new definitions of the terms psyche, mental process, sensation, perception, mentality, consciousness, memory, emotion, feelings, experiences etc. are proposed. The author considers the excessive generalization, tautology, scientific invalidity, logical inadequacy (inconsistency), metaphoricalness as the disadvantages in definitions of initial theoretical propositions. The author's solutions to these fundamental problems with reliance on natural science achievements and traditions of national psychology are offered. It is underlined that by today there is no generally accepted system of psychological concepts in psychology. This article continues a series of the author's publications devoted to the contents determination and systematization of the key concepts of psychology. He develops the categorical system of psychology including the set of psychological concepts and reflecting the semantic links between them
