¿Fracaso escolar y maternidad adolescente o maternidad adolescente y fracaso escolar?: Revisión teórica actualizada.

Abstract

A literature review has been carried out around the question that this project want to answer it: “School failure and teenage motherhood or teenage motherhood and school failure?” To do the bibliographic search, the Prisma method was used (Moher et al., 2009), based on the following data sources: Punto Q, Dialnet, Redalyc, Library of Congress (online catalog), Ebscohost (Academic Search Complete), Web of Science (WOS), MEDLINE, SCOPUS e ISOC (Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades). 12 articles were selected for analysis based on the proposed objectives related to motherhood during adolescence and the school dropout, taking into account descriptive aspects and methodological characteristics of the investigations. The results support the relationship between school dropout and teenage motherhood, joined to other factors that favor this relationship, for example economic factors. Nevertheless, the question is difficult to answer it because there are many factors that can contribute to this situation. Besides, the investigations are not longitudinal and can not be generalized, so it´s difficult to decide if school failure is antecedent or a consequence of motherhood and adolescent pregnancy. Therefore, it is proposed to carry out more studies in Spain taking these aspects into account to achieve the response, as well as to create effective interventions and, above all, prevention with young women.
