Abstract: The author covers various aspects of the symbolic dimension of the actions in the Catholic ritual of the Eucharistic Prayers as language for communication with God and among believers. He distinguishes the notes of the symbolic value of the word and the liturgy and presents the characteristic dimensions of the Eucharistic Prayer: formal, traditional, unchanging, orderly, formative and carrier of sacred symbolism. He goes on to analyze the context of these Eucharistic Prayers: the language, styles, the gestures, silences and acclamations of the people, and highlights the place of the Christian community gathered to celebrate the liturgy as the home place of the ritual language and the need for both priests and people to learn the art of celebrating.
