Paleozoico superior y cretacico del area Huaranca (Sapahaqui - Rio La Paz), Cordillera Oriental de Bolivia

Abstract

En el area de Huaranca, entre Sapahaqui y el Rio La Paz, afloran rocas del Paleozoico superior (Formacion Cumana), y del Cretacico (formaciones Tarapaya, Miraflores y Aroifilla), preservadas en el nucleo de estrechos sinclinales dentro del frente de deformacion (faja plegada y corrida) del borde oeste de la Cordillera Oriental. La Formacion Cumana presenta facies y espesores similares a los de zonas cercanas (sinclinal de Calamarca), y su reconocimiento aumenta hacia el este el area de distribucion de esta unidad. Las unidades del Cretacico representan la conexion entre las cuencas de Peru y Bolivia por encima del Alto de La Paz, y por lo tanto son de importancia en la correlacion regional y en la evolucion paleogegrafica de la cuenca cretacica andina (Résumé d'auteur).
