Abstract

"Introducción. La oclusión prenatal espontánea de la gastroquisis es una complicación rara y usualmente se asocia a atresia del in-testino medio. Esta anomalía es conocida como “closed gastroschisis”, pero en español sugerimos que se denomine estrangulamiento paraumbilico-intestinal antenatal (ESPIA) o síndrome de Grosfeld. Material y método. En una revisión de dos años hallamos 58 casos de gastrosquisis; cuatro de los cuales tenían esa complicación. Resultados. En esos pacientes el intestino medio extracorpóreo siempre estaba necrótico o fibrosado. El remanente intestinal necrosado fue resecado. Durante la intervención se observó atresia de 35 a 45 cm de yeyuno y atresia de colon descendente. Todos los pacientes desarrollaron síndrome de intestino corto y tres de ellos fallecieron antes de la cuarta semana de vida extrauterina. Conclusiones. Esta serie muestra que esta complicación es potencialmente mortal."
