LEI DE LOTKA APLICADA À PRODUÇÃO CIENTÍFICA DA ÁREA DE CIÊNCIA DA INFORMAÇÃO

Abstract

Apresentamos uma aplicação da Lei de Lotka ao conjunto de autores com publicações no campo da Ciência da Informação, entre 1996 e 2007. A aplicação realizada segue a metodologia de Lee Pao (1985). Foram selecionados todos os autores que surgiram no campo autor, não se efetuou nenhum corte na distribuição e a estimação do valor crítico calculou-se utilizando a fórmula proposta por Nicholls (1989). Os resultados mostram os seguintes dados: uma pendente igual a ‘-2.75’, inferior à obtida tanto no trabalho de Voos (1974) como no de Sen, Taib e Hassan (1996), neste mesmo campo; uma porcentagem de autores, realizadores de um só trabalho, igual a 79% e um excelente ajuste a Lei de Lotka, ao ser aplicado o teste de Kolmogorov-Smirnov.
