Circunferência escrotal de touros jovens da raça Sindi

Abstract

As raças bovinas de origem indiana são de grande importância para a produção de carne e de leite e algumas vêm se destacando em termos de eficiên­cia e produtividade em algumas regiões do Brasil, dentre elas a raça Sindi. A qual se caracterizada pela precocidade sexual, longevidade produtiva e efici­ência alimentar e reprodutiva. A mensuração da circunferência escrotal (CE) é um método eficaz para a seleção de animais visto que há uma correlação genética favorável com a taxa de crescimento, ganho de peso e precocidade reprodutiva. Objetivou-se com avaliar a circunferência escrotal (CE) de tou­ros jovens da raça Sindi. Foram utilizados 18 touros jovens da raça Sindi, e mensurou-se a circunferência escrotal e peso corporal associando-as com a idade. As medidas de CE dos touros Sindi foram superiores aos valores relatados por Gonçalves (2008), sendo para Sindi 29,01 cm, Guzerá 29,64 cm e Gir 27,75 com idades superiores aos 24 meses, e aos valores obtidos por Alves (2007) em touros Nelore de idade entre 12-18 meses com média de 22,9 cm.
