Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the level of readiness and preparation at the disaster's various stages of the personnel working at Balıkesir 112 Emergency Health Service Stations and the factors affecting them. The universe of study consists of 628 personnel working at 47 active 112 ASHİ, 1 UMKE station, 1 motorized team station, head physician of provincial ambulance service and command control center in Balıkesir province. 368 (59%) personnel from inside the universe participated in the study. In study, it was used screening model and relational screening model from quantitative research models. As a data collection tool, `Demographic Data Form` consisting of 16 questions and `The Scale of Disaster Preparedness Perception` consisting of 20 matters were used. At analyze of the datas were used a statistical package program. The nonparametric `Kruskal Wallis H` and `Mann-Whitney U` tests were applied for the comparisons between the independent variables having an effect on the disaster preparedness perception and the scale score mean. According to the findings of the study, gender, education and professional experience status of Balıkesir 112 ASHİ personnel did not bring about a significant difference on the perceptions of disaster preparedness. It was seen that be high the disaster preparedness perception of personnel who had previously participated in any task, practice or training related to disaster, and who took this training theoretically and practically.
