Informalidad laboral en Colombia: un análisis regional

Abstract

(Texto tomado de la fuente) The main objective of this document is to study the determinants of labor informality in Colombia from a regional approach, examining if the variables of a structural, institutional, or mixed approach best explain this phenomenon. Although several thesis and documents have addressed this problem, none of them included either a regional approach or an empirical strategy that embraces variables of a structural and institutional nature at the same time. Therefore, this document provides new insights to understand this problem in greater depth. The results suggest that the best empirical strategy to study labor informality in Colombia should include a mixed approach, which includes the determinants proposed by both the structural and institutional theoretical approaches. Likewise, this document, which studies labor informality from a regional approach, contains a set of recommendations and considerations that might be considered useful input for the design of public policies both at the level of the central national government and for each of the regional authorities.
