Nitrogênio na produção e diagnose foliar do capim-mombaça

Abstract

O nitrogênio é um nutriente de elevado impacto na produtividade das gramíneas forrageiras tropicais. Entretanto, há carência de informações quanto à diagnose foliar para nitrog ênio para uma série de capins. Avaliou-se o efeito do nitrogênio na produção de massa seca, na concentração desse nutriente no tecido vegetal, no valor SPAD nas lâminas foliares, bem como tratou-se de selecionar tecido vegetal para amostragem e de determinar o nível crítico do nitrogê- nio na parte selecionada. Realizou-se um experimento em casa-de-vegetação, com Panicum maximum Jacq. cultivar Mombaça desenvolvido no período de janeiro a março, em solução nutritiva. Utilizou-se o delineamento experimental de blocos completos ao acaso, com quatro repeti- ções e estudaram-se oito doses de nitrogênio correspondentes a 0; 14; 42; 126; 210; 294; 378 e 462 mg L-1 , com o emprego de sílica como substrato. Ocorreram efeitos significativos das doses de nitrogênio na produção de massa seca e na concentração de nitrogênio na parte aérea e nas raízes do capim. Lâminas de folhas novas foram selecionadas para a avaliação do estado nutricional. O nível crítico de nitrogênio nesse tecido vegetal foi de 16 a 16,5 g kg-1 e o valor SPAD correspondente ao nível crítico foi de 41 a 45 unidades.
