Upplevelser vid höftsmärtor

Abstract

Background: Approximately 18000 people suffer from hip fractures every year in Sweden and it increases every year. The majority of these are older females and the cause of this is osteoporosis which means degrading of the bone. Aim: To highlight how patients with hip fractures experience and are affected by pain. Method: The study is a literature review based on a total of nine articles. The databases that was searched are Cinahl and Pubmed. Results: The results show that patients accept pain when admitted to a hospital. The communication about pain is unclear for the patients. High pain during the hospital stay lead to longer admittance, worse rehabilitation and lower quality of life. Conclusion: Pain management is important because high pain leads to longer admittance. Because of that communication is of most importance between patient and nurse so that the patient doesn’t suffer from pain unnecessarily.
