Ekspresionizam i ambivalencija - odnos značenja i forme u Izbavitelju i Kabinetu doktora Caligarija

Abstract

Polazište je teksta stilska i značenjska analogija između dvaju povijesno udaljenih filmskih uradaka, Kabineta doktora Caligarija Roberta Wienea (1920) i Izbavitelja Krste Papića (1976). Prvi je, dakako, kao kanonski primjer otjelovljenja karakterističnih ekspresionističkih svojstava, autorica smatra, poslužio kao daleki uzor za atmosferu i povijesnu kritiku, dakle, za podjednako umjetnički radikalan otklon od konvencionalnog (realističkog) i kao kritička oštrica povijesnoga zla. Tako začet tzv. kaligarizam, koji u interpretaciji Waltera Kaula (1970) znači i stilizaciju i izazivanje fenomena strave kod promatrača, i u kasnijem filmu ponavlja fabularnu, odnosno značenjsku dvojnost: kao što u prvome nije do kraja jasno tko je lud, a tko ne, tako je u kasnijemu romantičarska igra dvojnika u ženskome liku nastavila nesigurnost kod promatrača je li priča završena ili ima nastavak u živome liku. Pritom je forma proizašla iz sadržaja, deformacijom i dramatičnim odnosom svjetla i sjene udvostručena je značenjska ambivalencija, kako u ranijem, tako i u kasnijem filmu.
