The use of Hausdorff-Besicovitch dimension in tyre thread design

Abstract

Summary: This work uses the Hausdorff-Besicovitch dimension in order to design the geometric shape of tyre thread. We describe a computer tool which creates preliminary tyre design employing symmetry groups as well as Hausdorff-Besicovitch dimension. Experimental results obtained for real tyres and computer-generated designs are compared, demonstrating the capability to diminish experimental burden in the tyre design procedure.
