Abstract

Los sistemas CRISPR-Cas confieren inmunidad adaptativa contra la infección por fagos y plásmidos en arqueas y bacterias. Es estudio de los loci CRISPR y las proteínas asociadas Cas están contribuyendo a la mejor comprensión de la complejidad en las interacciones virus-huésped, clave en la evolución y ecología de la vida. Además, presenta numerosas aplicaciones, desde el tipificado de microorganismos, hasta la edición del genoma. Este artículo ofrece una visión sintética de los sistemas CRISPR-Cas de defensa, sus mecanismos de acción, su diversidad, nociones sobre su regulación y evolución, así como sus principales aplicaciones.

CRISPR-Cas systems confer adaptive immunity against phage and plasmid infection in archaea and bacteria. It is a study of the CRISPR loci and the associated proteins Cas are contributing to the better understanding of the complexity in the host-virus interactions, key in the evolution and ecology of life. In addition, it offers numerous applications, from the typing of microorganisms, to the editing of the genome. This article offers a synthetic vision of the CRISPR-Cas defense systems, their mechanisms of action, their diversity, notions about their regulation and evolution, as well as their main applications.
