Memes como Activismo Digital

Memes como Activismo Digital

Abstract

The objective of this essay is to examine how political memes respond to a type of digital activism. The memes examined in this journal paper were created and disseminated with the intention of parodying political actors, make visible certain postures and as political commentary on the systematic strike of the University of Puerto Rico in 2017. I also propose as a method of analysis of Internet memes of multimodal type the method proposed by Barthes (1964) for the analysis of advertisements in the rhetoric of the image due to the similarity of this type of memes with advertising art.
