Mehanizam djelovanja probiotičke kvasnice Saccharomyces cerevisiae var. boulardii

Abstract

Saccharomyces boulardii koristi se u medicini isključivo kao probiotik u cilju liječenja i preventivnih mjera gastrointestinalnih poremećaja. Mehanizam djelovanja kvasca Saccharomyces boulardii nalazi se u reguliranju crijevne mikrobne homeostaze, interferenciji sa sposobnošću patogena da koloniziraju i inficiraju sluznicu crijeva, podešavanju lokalnih i sistemskih imunosnih odgovora, stabilizaciji funkcije gastrointestinalne barijere i indukciji enzimske aktivnosti omogućujući apsorpciju hranjivih tvari. Ovaj probiotički kvasac je učinkovit u smanjenju trajanja akutnog proljeva i liječenju gastroenteritisa kod djece, prevenciji proljeva izazvanog korištenjem antibiotika u djece i odraslih, te putničkog proljeva.
