Abstract

Suvremeno novinarstvo danas prožimaju dva susutava pravila. Jedan je pravni/zakonski, a drugi je etički. Oba sustava svakodnevno određuju rad redakcije i pri tomu se djelomično međusobno preklapaju, a djelomično i dopunjuju. Oni određuju zakonski i etički ambijent u kojem djeluju suvremeni novinari. A nije to kroz povijest uvijek bilo tako. Ideja, a time i borba za zaštitu ljudskih prava i sloboda, stara je koliko formalno postoje organizirane ljudske zajednice. To potvrđuje da su ljudska prava i slobode najvažnija pitanja čovjekove egzistencije. Danas ih čine sva ona načela, norme i standardi koji jamče osobna, politička, ekonomska, socijalna, kulturna i dr. prava svakog pojedinca. Ljudska su prava izbila na međunarodnu scenu u posljednja dva stoljeća, posebice zbog industrijalizacije, tehnološkog razvitka i humanističkih pokreta, afirmirajući osobito opće vrijednosti za koje se moraju primjenjivati standardi koje je usvojila međunarodna zajednica.
