READY - Raise Environmental Awareness for Deprived Youth

Description

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVESSocially and economically marginalized youths often happen to live in deprived areas. When it comes to cities, this means polluted, overpopulated and dangerous peripheries. The Raise Environmental Awareness for Deprived Youths (READY) project aims to strengthen to socio-ecological awareness and capacity building on cause-and-effect aspects of environmental circularity to youth. It is focused on suburban areas, characterized by a deprived, polluted and multiethnic environment, where young residents have fewer opportunities.ACTIVITIES - Needs analysis to detect obstacles and opportunities of young citizens in their neighborhoods/areas- Co-design and implementation of an environmental training addressed to the targeted youths, based on non-formal education methods with a combination of online and offline tools, such as short videos, individual exercises, group work, study visits.- Transnational training of trainers for the partners’ youth workers - Implementation of the short - term volunteering. The targeted youths will realize their volunteering and be guided by the hosting organizations to the discovery of the so - called “green jobs”.- Peer to peer environmental workshops, young citizens have completed their empowerment and they are ready to advocate for the environment through specific workshops in schools- Communication and dissemination of the project’s results EXPECTED RESULTS- Increased youth awareness and capacity building on socio-ecological issues- youth workers improved their awareness on the specific needs of young people and how to address themMAIN OUTPUTS- training package for youth workers and youth- video pills on the actions and project overallTARGET GROUPS-young citizens with fewer opportunities: at least 140 in 7 Countries -youth workers: at least 14OTHER BENEFICIARIES- LAs, CSOs working with youth, school, sustainable NGOs/companies etc.
