<< Objectives >>Climate education in Europe often emphasizes facts, neglecting the mental impact of the climate crisis on young adults. This approach exposes them to complex information that may induce climate anxiety. RISE UP seeks to (1) enhance HED professionals' abilities to address climate anxiety, promoting students' climate resilience, and (2) foster a transformative approach to addressing climate change by emphasizing transformative and green competences and skills.<< Implementation >>RISE UP will operationalize the GreenComp framework for HED education using a transdisciplinary approach, including resilience training, ecopsychology, and traditional ecological knowledge. Employing a strong co-creation methodology involving experts, HED professionals, and students, we will create a practical Educators Toolbox and an innovative assessment for its cross-faculty implementation. Interdisciplinary events and our Knowledge Exchange Hub will foster practice and knowledge exchange.<< Results >>HED professionals across Europe will be trained to teach green skills, address the impact of climate change on mental health and strengthen the resilience of young adults on an individual, collective and systemic level. This empowers students to take transformative action and become agents of change. This will lead to more sustainable, regenerative communities and societies in Europe that can withstand the challenges of climate change and other emerging societal crises.
