CAP Transfer of Information Via Assessment, Training and Extension

Description

<< Background >>For the 2021-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework, the European Commission called for the modernisation of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). The new CAP has a key role to play in supporting the European agricultural sector, managing the transition to sustainable food production systems and strengthening European farmers' efforts to contribute to the EU's climate objectives and environmental protection goals set in the European Green Deal, and related strategies such as the Farm to Fork, Biodiversity Strategy and the Organic Action Plan.In their daily lives, farmers encounter the CAP primarily through subsidies and grants, which often have a decisive influence on their management directions. In many cases, however, they are not sufficiently aware of the rules and conditions for implementing certain measures. As the efficiency and competitiveness of agricultural production can be enhanced in line with higher environmental and agro-ecological standards, for farmers to be able to apply these solutions in a professional, effective, successful and sustainable way, Assessing the farm from an environmental perspective is an essential first step in the transition process.<< Objectives >>The main aim of the project was to develop a farmer-centred assessment and training system by connecting the EU's new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) requirements with proven, innovative, sustainable eco-management practices, in favour of better implementation of the various measures, increased uptake of support, improved efficiency in production and protection of the natural environment. Our objective was that farmers better understand conditionality, eco-scheme and rural development regulations and their linked undertakings, they choose (supported by a farm assessment tool) and participate in the certain schemes with more responsibility and awareness, carrying out the measures more consciously and effectively.<< Implementation >>Project coordinationProject management and monitoringActivities for intellectual outputs (project results)Communication and disseminationQuality assuranceEvents and meetings (Learning Teaching Training Activity, transnational partnership meetings, multiplier events, online meetings, and many others)All activities of implementation are described in the next sections.<< Results >>PR1 CAP Eco-Practice Knowledge Basehttps://cap-tivate.eu/kbThis module allows users to access information from both angles of finding financial support and implementing good agro-techniques for more sustainable farming. Additionally filling out a short questionnaire at start allows the preparation of the farmer profile, to be reused during the searches for relevant content.PR2 Eco-Farm Assessment Toolhttps://cap-tivate.eu/ead/guide/enEAD = Eco-farm Assessment and Decision support. The tool is a digital self-assessment approach for farmers and advisors to assess ecological sustainability at farm level, consisting of sustainability indicators that provide information on the current state that can help farmers in their decision-making process. PR3 Knowledge Management Platform (IT modules)https://cap-tivate.eu/The main goal of developing the Digital Platform is to present a one-stop-shop access to all the other innovative results of the project, and support the exploitation of those results. The digital platform hosts all the web-basd modules mentioned in this section. PR4 Learning (OER) moduleshttps://edu.cap-tivate.euThe project offers a user-friendly online learning platform that is designed to equip agricultural advisors and farmers with the knowledge and skills they need to implement sustainable practices.PR5 Methodology and Implementation Guidelineshttps://cap-tivate.eu/handbookThe publication was prepared to serve as a guide for practitioners working in the field, including especially farmers, their advisors, as well as other extension workers and supporting experts, to help farmers navigate and make the most of the new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). The content of the Farmer Handbook was made available in four languages and in various formats, including online document viewer, stand alone downloadable PDF file, and printed hard copy version as well.
