"<< Background >>Our project was designed to address the issues of material waste and limited recycling knowledge arising from workshops, events and activities run by youth workers. The impact of the post-pandemic environmental crisis on youth work has highlighted the need for zero waste and sustainability practices. We aimed to increase the capacity of youth workers who work on environmental issues but lack access to tools and methods, as well as target groups working in handicrafts and creative sectors that use a big amount of materials in their workshops and have limited knowledge of sustainability. This need was identified based on our partners' direct experiences in their respective fields and the lack of good practices around Europe.<< Objectives >>Our aim was to increase the capacity of youth workers to make their workshops, activities and mobility zero waste, sustainable and environmentally friendly. To this end, we developed knowledge, skills and tools that would integrate the 5R rule (refuse, reduce, reuse, repurpose, recycle) and sustainability principles into youth work. Contributing to the Erasmus+ priority of ‘green transition,’ improving the quality of youth work, and offering innovative and applicable methodologies were among our main goals. We also aimed to strengthen shared values and environmental awareness through experience sharing and transnational cooperation among youth workers from different fields.<< Implementation >>The project was implemented as planned with a series of international and local activities. A co-creation meeting was held in Brussels to develop the content of the training programme and workshop kit. This was followed by a 10-day online training course with 18 participants and a 6-day face-to-face pilot training course in Rheine. Two-day local pilot training sessions were held with the participation of around 18-20 young people in each partner country. Dissemination events were organised with around 25 participants at the local level. In addition, an international dissemination event was held in Brussels as part of Erasmus Days 2024. Throughout the project, all outputs and content were transferred to an online platform and made available for open access.<< Results >>Three main tangible outputs were produced: (1) a 48-hour ""Recycled Workshops"" Training Program, (2) a ""Recycled Workshops"" Workshop Kit containing 15 tools, and (3) an online platform containing project results, resources, and interactive assessment tools. These outputs enabled target groups to integrate sustainability practices into their own fields. Through local and international activities, over 3,000 online accesses, hundreds of direct participants, and widespread impact in over 15 EU countries were achieved. The project strengthened the knowledge, skills, and implementation capacity of both partners and participants in environmentally friendly youth work."
